A Denominational Minister Dr. Taylor extends his ministry through his roles as Moderator of the North Jersey District Missionary Baptist Association and First Vice President of the General Baptist Convention of New Jersey.

Biography of Reverend Dr. Lester Taylor, Jr.

pastor taylorDr. Lester W. Taylor Jr., husband of Lady Gayle Green Taylor and father of Brindin Lamar and Amber Nicole Taylor, is the senior pastor of the Community Baptist Church of Englewood, New Jersey.

Since 1977, Dr. Taylor has been preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Licensed by the St. Phillip’s Missionary Baptist Church of Bridgeton, he later received his ordination by the  Bethany Baptist Association of South Jersey upon accepting the call to the pastorate in 1993.  Dr. Taylor has led the congregation of the Community Baptist Church of Englewood since that time offering a ministry of hope and restoration.  Under his leadership, the church is experiencing tremendous growth and development.  In 2011, he led the congregation in the completion of their new 13 million dollar worship complex.  The vision is yet unfolding as he along with the CBC family pursue excellence and the second phase, which is the erection of a Community Family Outreach Center.   

Dr. Taylor is a graduate of the Philadelphia Biblical University (1985), the New York Theological Seminary (1999), and the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary (2002). Dr. Taylor is the recipient of numerous awards, resolutions, and honors during his ministry.   He is the 1999 recipient of the Presidents Ward presented by the faculty of the New York Theological Seminary and the 2003 recipient of the prestigious Bergen-Walden Award given by the Black Association of Seminarians of the New Brunswick Theological Seminary, in honor of the first two African Americans to graduate from the institution in 1879.

Dr. Taylor serves as the First Vice President of the General Baptist Convention of New Jersey, Inc. He is the immediate former Moderator of the North Jersey District Missionary Baptist Association, and the former president of the Black Clergy Council of Englewood, Teaneck, and Vicinity.

Dr. Taylor is also a skilled and accomplished musician who shares a passion for excellence in music ministry. He is founder of the Music Auxiliary of the North Jersey District Missionary Baptist Association. He continues to share his musical expertise with the congregation creating an atmosphere that is filled with musical adoration and praise. 

Dr. Taylor is committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is a gospel preacher! His goal is to serve this present age through ministries that speak to today’s issues. He has a passion for developing those wrestling with the call to ministry. He is affectionately called the “Pastor’s Pastor!”  He enjoys his ministry as a symposium leader, revivalist, and bible teacher. He travels extensively preaching and teaching the word of God, and lecturing on church leadership, and church growth and development, and marriage and family enrichment.

Dr. Taylor’s His life’s scripture is John 15:16 which says, “Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He may give it to you.”
